Let’s Leave Pride Behind
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”
Proverbs 11:2
A fool says he can do it all by himself and doesn’t ask for help. He won’t even acknowledge those around him that Yahweh has placed in his life to lift him up. As we have been learning about wisdom, Yahweh is showing us that we cannot do this on our own. It’s not all about us!!
In order to move forward, we need to lay down our pride. We cannot force ourselves to the front of the line and then expect to gain wisdom. It always amazes me how Yahweh makes the greatest things possible when we don’t pursue those great things. For example, Yahweh wants to lift us up in the earth. However, the only way this happens is when we don’t do it ourselves or go hard after the high places in order to make our own name great. How does this make any sense?
He wants the glory, but He made it so that in order to be exalted, you must first be humbled. No greater glory can be expressed than when a humble person is brought to the front or placed in a position of authority. The world would tell you that in order to be great, you must pursue greatness. And, although we should always be a people of excellence, our desire should always be one of humility first before Yahweh.
