Finding Rest in the Journey

The Rock of Central Florida   -

Are you enjoying the journey you are on, noticing that the hours of a day are speeding up, the months quickly pass, and before you know it a year has passed?

Often, we get stuck in the same beat, day in and day out, the race to be better, faster, quicker, and smarter. One term I have heard used is the “rat race” and to be honest, I think the term fits and here is why.

As a social civilization, we often feel this collective drive to always be on the move, doing something. If you aren’t, you are often looked upon as “lazy”, or lacking direction. However, this “rat race” mentality couldn’t be further from the truth!

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31

I believe this is our creator, Yahweh, trying to tell us that is ok to slow down and rest, reflect on what you are doing and even more importantly whether our actions bring glory to Him or to ourselves. Most of us are probably guilty of actions that bring glory to us at one point or another and that is ok, so long as you recognize what you are doing, repent, and then moving forward you move with a purpose. When I say that, “move with a purpose”, it can mean with speed, but can also mean you take your time to ensure you are moving in the way He wants you to. Even in Proverbs (3:5-6), He tells us that we are not expected to know every step of the way, whether to move fast or pause,

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Lean on faith and you will find the way, with Yahweh right there by your side. Take time and enjoy the journey that you are on. Living each minute that Yahweh has ordained for this moment of time. When you allow Yahweh to consume your journey, everything will be completed in the right time successfully, and you will be able to rest and be at peace.
