Patience Is A Virtue – But It’s Not Very Fun
Proverbs 16:32 Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.
Who likes waiting for something? Do we enjoy a good process, or are we in a hurry to reach the destination? We have been trained as a modern society to have everything we want instantly. We pay extra fees for “express” or “overnight delivery.” If our door dash is 5 minutes past the promised time, suddenly our entire day is thrown off. Everything is NOW!
Yahweh has been showing me lately about patience. I see a destination in the distance, and everything in me wants to get there as quickly as possible. However, what am I seeking? Do I want a quick fix or the everlasting reward (which only comes through patience).
There is a reason it is said that it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill or trade. If it took 10 hours, then everyone would be a master. We as sons have dreams in our hearts that may take a long time to come to fruition. Here’s the great news! Yahweh not only makes the destination rewarding, but the journey along the way!
Have you ever set out to do something and realized at the end of it, you learned many other new things along the way? Buy up the time he has given you and enjoy the process. It takes patience, but what you gain lasts not only your lifetime, but spans generations!
