A Look In the Mirror
Mirror, mirror what do you see?
Self-evaluating yourself can often be a very difficult task. But it is necessary for growth to happen. We are our very best and worse critics all at once. And while self-evaluation gives us the opportunity to think, reflect and identify problems and constraints, if we are self-evaluating out of Christ, we aren’t reaching the fullness of who we are.
Immediately we are reminded of those private moments after a shower or before brushing your teeth, where we glance at our foggy reflection in the mirror. These aren’t the moments that I am referring to. I am actually talking about the moments before a conversation or conflict, that can define an engagement. In every interaction we are left to make a choice. Will we be a reflection of the Son or limit ourselves by avoiding the deeper thing that is available.
Looking in the mirror is an opportunity to focus on our original intent. It might sound cliché, but “What would Jesus do”? Jesus never questioned if he was worthy to speak into the lives of the masses. His reflection was clear.
Now whether you take a look at your reflection in private or in the middle of your day, consider who you are to the Father and what you have to impart to others.
1 Peter 2:9 NIV
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
