To Consider Brings Rest
“…And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day…” (KJV Gen 1:31)
“…And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made…” (KJV Gen 2:2)
To balance, to nurture, to allow conflict and to judge righteously are all qualities of Consideration. If a job is to be done well there should be much deliberation before starting any task. The gospel of Luke, speaks of the man who sits down and counts the cost before building. It says that he is a wise man who completes his house. Once he is finished, he will be admired by his peers for his great deed, then he can enter into rest.
So many times, we are guilty of moving through life from project to project and being content with it’s done, accepting well enough to be “well enough.” We have learned to function in the chaos. I can recall countless assignments and exams that I waited until the last moment to cram for and being satisfied with a passing grade. I even had the audacity to upset when I didn’t pass. Promising myself that it would not happen the next time. However, I also remember how fulfilling it was to do well because I put the time and consideration into my project along with the peace and joy that followed.
The harvest of counting up the cost is always greater than that of procrastination. Procrastination is the opposite of consideration; it lacks faith, wisdom and it is not the way of the Kingdom Son. I know counting up the cost can be frightening because it reveals the impossibilities. However, that is exactly what Yahweh wants you to know. What are the impossibilities? Without knowing what the impossibilities are they cannot be overcome. Ephesians chapter 3 verse 20 says;
“…Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,…”
Wow! The ability to overcome is not just in HIM, but it is IN US. To consider causes us to recognize the difficult and impossible things, to recognize that we are more than a conqueror when we move by faith and not by sight and to find rest. Selah.
